The Coromandel!

17 februari 2019 - Coromandel, Nieuw-Zeeland

Hello!

A new update about the last few days of our trip! We've been to the Coromandel, which is a peninsula on the east side of the country.

The short trip to the Coromandel started on Thursday. We arrived at our place for the first night just around 5pm, after we had a 2,5h drive to Coromandel Town. After we had a short rest, we headed into town to get some dinner. We popped in to a fish n chips shop, got some food there and drove up to a beach to eat our dinner there. After dinner we went back to our room and decided what we wanted to do on the next day.

Friday morning we went to a little beach called Shelley Beach, where one of Marie-Louise's friends had her wedding in November. After this we went to the Driving Creek Railway, which took us up a hill. On top of the hill we had a beautiful view on the Town and the sea. In the afternoon we drove to Whitianga, where we would stay for the next two nights. We booked a house on Airbnb, so we got a complete house for our own. Soon as we got there we went to the supermarket to buy dinner. We made some delicious nacho's, and after that we played a game of Monopoly, which we bought in the afternoon.

On Saturday me and Sterre went on a hop on, hop off bus, and we went to various places on the Coromandel peninsula. We first went to Hot Water Beach, which is a beach known for its hot water underneath the sand. If you dig a hole there, you can create your very own thermal bath! After Hot Water Beach we went to the Cathedral Cove, which is a naturally created cove. You can only get to the Cathedral Cove by foot, so it took us 1/2 hour to get there, but then we got rewarded! It looked absolutely stunning and we felt like we were in paradise! After this we went back to Whitianga to have a swim and dinner after that. This time we had delicious risotto, made by our personal chef Marie-Louise! We played another game of Monopoly in the evening before we went to bed for our well deserved sleep.

On Sunday we had to leave the house again and went to Zenders to have lunch. Zenders is a Dutch-styled café in Hamilton, where they serve different types of Dutch food. We went there to have a frikandel speciaal haha! It tasted different from home, but it wasn't too bad. After that we went back to Ans and Louis.

The next days will be busy, as we go away with Oliver and Tessa on Monday and Tuesday, and we will head to the Bay of Islands on Wednesday. We will be ther till Sunday. After this trip I will provide you with another blog post!

We keep in touch!
